I looked at Exit through
the gift shop, which is a film documentary directed by well-known street artist
Bansky. It was nominated at the 83rd Oscars for ‘Best Documentary
Feature’. The film is said to be a prank or ‘mockumentary’ but when questioned
on the latter Banksy insists the film is not a prank and 100% real. The
approach to this documentary is a mixture of education/informative and collage.
The film revolves solely around the subject of street art and there are
multiple contributors in film. Archive footage is also used throughout the
film, particularly in the opening montage where we see archival footage from
existing street art films.Thursday, 7 March 2013
